1970 DB6 MkII Volante

An original Aston Martin 1970 DB6 MkII Volante has been fitted with the world’s first reversible Electric Vehicle (EV) conversion.

Enclosed within its own self-contained cell and sitting on the original engine and gearbox mountings, the conversion is fully reversable.

Umbilical cords from the power unit feed the car’s electrical systems and a power management system is operated via a discreetly fitted dedicated screen.

The aim of the project is to mitigate any future legislation which may restrict the use of classic cars by offering a zero emissions conversion.

Paul Spires, President of Aston Martin Works commented: “We have been looking for some time to find a way of protecting our customers’ long-term enjoyment of their cars.

“Driving a classic Aston Martin on pure EV power is a unique experience and one that will no doubt be extremely attractive to many owners, especially those who live in city centres.”

Aston Martin Works are expected to start completing customer Heritage EV conversions in 2019.
