The one-off Bugatti “Voiture Noire”, the black car, has sold to an unnamed buyer for €11m (£9.5m) becoming the most expensive new car ever sold.
The exclusive car has a black carbon fibre body, 1500-horsepower and a 16-cylinder engine, which is unique in the automotive world. “This is not only an engine but the heart of the vehicle and a technical masterpiece. There is no other car in the world with such an engine. It is not only extremely powerful but also beautiful to look at,” says Stephan Winkelmann, Bugatti President.
“Every single component has been handcrafted and the carbon fibre body has a deep black gloss only interrupted by the ultrafine fibre structure. This is a material that has been handled perfectly”, says Bugatti designer Etienne Salomé
The Bugatti “Voiture Noire” is reminiscence of “la Voiture Noire”, a Type 57 SC Atlantic, that was Jean Bugatti’s most famous creation. The Type 57 SC Atlantic is one of the most valuable classic cars in the world with only four made between 1936 and 1938, with three still in existence.
Bugatti revealed the car to the world this week at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.
